Here are some of the facts only a few people know about.

A born patriot — As a teenager, Modi provided his services during the 1965 Indo-Pak War. He enthusiastically assisted the soldiers at the railway stations during their journey.

Aspired to Become an Ascetic — During his late teenage years, he was deeply influenced by the Gypsy lifestyle. He kept travelling alone to unknown places. He even spent time with ‘sadhus’ in the Himalayas.

Performed in Plays and Dramas — In his school days, Narendra Modi had a keen desire to participate in plays and dramas. As a teenager, he performed in a fundraising drama.

A leadership course from the US — Narendra Modi undertook a three months course in the United States. There he studied image management and public relations. These courses eventually helped him refine his personality and impact as a great leader in India.

Modi was denied entry in US — Modi was only granted a US visa after his election to the Prime minister of India. The US government had earlier denied him a Visa for 9 years for his failure to stop the communal riots in Gujarat. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat when the riots occurred which killed more than 1,000 people- majority of which were Muslims.

He is a fashion Icon — Modi’s fashion choices have always drawn media attention. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the man himself is a fashion icon. But what many people do not know is that he is brand conscious or to be precise- he buys from a certain brand called ‘Jade Blue’ which is an Ahmedabad based textile company.

Poet Narendra Modi — Mr. Modi is fond of writing poems and photography. He writes in Gujarati and has also written some books. The photographs clicked by him have also earned an exhibition.

A Hindu Nationalist — Modi is often called a Hindu Nationalist. He is well known for his love for Hinduism. But very few know of his fondness for Buddhism as well. The reason for his affinity towards these religions is his birthplace Vadnagar, both these religions- Hinduism and Buddhism have been flourishing there since centuries.

Self-aware turned self-obsession — He logs on to the internet every morning without fail and checks all that is written about him. Even if he is travelling, he gets newspapers and cuttings of what his critics are saying about him.
