Edinson Cavani scored twice, while Neymar added another from the penalty as the French champions thrashed Stade Reims 4-1 at home on Wednesday.

Xavier Chavalerin gave Reims a shock lead within the first two minutes of the match from a calculated team move after Julian Draxler had given up possession inside his own half. But their hopes of a surprise victory soon fizzled out when three minutes later, Cavani lobbed the ball over opposite goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

He was once again at the center of things, earning a penalty in the 23rd minute, from which Neymar scored. Then one minute before the first half whistle, Cavani completed a brace to make it 3-1 for the French champions.

Resuming from the break, Belgium right-back Thomas Meunier added a fourth in the 55th minute to complete the victory.

Olympique Lillois, Lille and Monaco are the only other teams to win their first seven games.

Meanwhile, Lyon climbed to the second place in the table after beating Dijon FCO 3-0 to continue their resurgence in World football.

Following their inconsistent start to the season, Lyon has now defeated Premier League champions Manchester City (2-1), rivals Marseille (4-2) before the victory over Dijon.
